STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-01-08 (Week 2) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * The second SECCHI campaign runs from January 7-20. Details are below. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. * The star tracker on Behind continues to operate nominally. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 1 * A SECCHI stepped calibration roll was carried out on the Ahead spacecraft on January 3. * The average daily downlink was 7.0 gigabits on Ahead and 7.9 gigabits on Behind. Week 2 * The SECCHI campaign started on Monday, January 7th. This consists of two passes per day, with the second pass devoted to SECCHI telemetry. The primary observing mode during the campaign will be to take high rate EUVI 171 data. Next week they will switch for two days to high rate 304 data. Extra COR1 coronagraph data are also being taken during the campaign. * JOP 200 will be run on January 10 between 12-14 UT. This is a combined campaign with Hinode. During this period SECCHI will be taking high rate subfield EUVI data with a 30 second cadence, but no COR1 or COR2 coronagraph images. The HI images will continue to be taken. Week 3 * The SECCHI campaign continues through Sunday, January 20. * There will be an IMPACT SEPT table load on Behind on January 16. * MESSENGER will fly by Mercury on January 14. Behind will be in quadrature with Mercury during the fly-by, which is a good position for imaging material which may be seen insitu by MESSENGER. The primary observation days for STEREO will be both January 13 and 14. The MESSENGER team has already expressed interest in the STEREO CME observations of the Dec 31 CME to compare with their insitu measurements. Week 4 * The 7th momentum dump will be performed on Behind on January 23 at 15:30 UT. Week 5 * Nothing unusual is planned. Other * There was some discussion about the last momentum dump on Ahead on Dec 20, when there was insufficient time to complete the double playback of insitu data. Mission Ops will look into what options are available to prevent this from happening again. Disabling double playback during certain tracks was discussed, as was resetting the pointers by hand. * Data on the star tracker anomaly is being delivered to the manufacturer this week.
