STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2008-03-11 (Week 11) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * Maintenance work will be done at APL on Saturday, March 29, from 10-16 UT. Interruptions are expected in the command interface. Instrument teams should send any commands in advance. INSTRUMENT AND SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * All subsystems on both spacecraft are nominal, except that the Ahead spececraft is currently operating on IMU #2. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 10 * On day 69 (Mar 9), during the Ahead pass on station 25, the transmitter tripped off. A small amount of SECCHI data was lost when the uplink was resweept. Some tracking data was also lost. * PLASTIC flight software revision 3.2.7 was successfully loaded on Behind on Monday, March 3 (day 63). * The average daily downlink was 7.1 gigabits on Ahead, and 7.4 gigabits on Behind. * There was a campus-wide power outage at APL from March 7-9. The MOC stayed up on generator, and everything worked as planned. Week 11 * There have been some schedule changes due to DSN station 43 going offline. The track on Ahead this morning was switched to station 26. This change came too late to change the SECCHI schedule, and some data may be affected. The Behind track on Friday is switching to station 34, and SECCHI will adjust their schedule accordingly. Week 12 * The 8th momentum dump on Behind is planned for day 79 (Mar 18) at 21:25 UT. * The Whole Heliospheric Interval campaign starts March 20, and runs through April 16. The campaign organizers are highly interested in synoptic STEREO data, both imaging and insitu, but have not yet requested any special observing modes. The campaign will start off with JOP 201, which is entitled "Linking the Corona to the Solar Wind at Ulysses". Although Ulysses is currently unavailable, the campaign organizers still plan to go ahead with this JOP, which involves scintillation measurements among others. South polar plumes are expected to be targeted. Week 13 * There will be a momentum dump on Ahead on Tuesday, day 85 (Mar 25), at 16:30 UT. The actual thruster firing takes about 4-5 minutes, but the MOC allows 90 minutes to carry out the maneuver. SECCHI doors will be closed for the maneuver, and calibrations will be substituted for the regular synoptic program. The calibrations take about 4-6 hours out of the synoptic schedule. * Maintenance work will be performed at APL on Saturday, March 29. See the announcement above for details. Week 14 * A SECCHI stepped calibration roll will be performed on Ahead on Tuesday, April 1 at 10:35 UT. This activity will last 3 hours. * HGA calibrations will be performed on both spacecraft on April 2, at 15 UT for Ahead, and 20 UT for Behind. This involves small rolls of ~1 degree. The activity lasts for 2 hours, with the rolls themselves lasting 1 hour.
