STEREO Weekly Meeting Minutes for 2024-09-17 (Week 38) ANNOUNCEMENTS ------------- * None. INSTRUMENT and SPACECRAFT STATUS -------------------------------- * Ahead is operating nominally. PLASTIC is in operational mode, but with a moderately higher than normal background rate. * Four years after the initial loss of communications anomaly with the Behind observatory, NASA has directed to cease periodic recovery operations with the last support on October 17, 2018. DISCUSSION AND OPERATIONS CONSTRAINTS ------------------------------------- Week 37 (Sep 9-15) * On day 256 (Sep 12), during the DSS-54 support, the transmitter tripped offline at 09:17UT, due to a power distribution failure at Madrid. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 2.2 hours of commanding, 2-way ranging and 4770 frames of SSR data. The MOPs team repositioned the SSR pointers on the subsequent track and recovered all the affected data. See DR #M117326 for more information. * On day 256 (Sep 12), the 72nd SECCHI stepped calibration was executed at 12:40 UT for midpoint in the Ahead orbit. This was the 41st SECCHI stepped calibration roll conducted without gyro use. * On day 257 (Sep 13), during the DSS-65 support, the transmitter was declared red, due to a coolant flow issue. This anomaly resulted in the loss of 3.9 hours of real-time commanding and 2-way tracking data. See DR #M117332 for more information. * The average daily science data return for Ahead was 7.1 Gbits during this week. Week 38 (Sep 16-22) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * An ESA Malargue track is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th, from 10:00 to 11:45 UT. * The 170th momentum dump is scheduled for Thursday, September 19th, with ignition at 22:00 UT. Week 39 (Sep 23-29) * Ahead has nine passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * On Wednesday, September 25th, from 20:00 to 21:00 EDT, APL will have an internet and VPN outage caused by a network maintenance event. * The 16th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Wednesday, September 25th. * Beginning Thursday, September 26th, SECCHI is observing the Parker Solar Probe perihelion, which will cover day of year 270-279. Week 40 (Sep 30 - Oct 6) * Ahead has fourteen passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 16th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window ends Monday, September 30th. * The 17th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Wednesday, October 2nd. * A DSN network maintenance event is scheduled from Wednesday, October 2nd at 22:00 UT to 06:00 UT on Thursday, October 3rd. * SECCHI observations of the Parker Solar Probe Perihelion end Saturday, October 5th. Week 41 (Oct 7-13) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. Week 42 (Oct 14-20) * Ahead has ten passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 17th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window ends Tuesday, October 15th. * The 18th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window begins Thursday, October 17th. Week 43 (Oct 21-27) * Ahead has twelve passes during the week, all at 720 kbps, and overall coverage is nominal. * The 18th Solar Orbiter remote sensing window ends Friday, October 25th. * Saturday, October 26th, is the eighteenth STEREO launch anniversary.
