Parker Solar Probe encounter with Venus, 21 August 2023

This figure shows the orbital configuration of STEREO Ahead (red) during the encounter of Parker Solar Probe (orange) with the planet Venus on 21 August 2023. The dashed orange line represents the orbit following the encounter. Both spacecraft are close to being along the same radial direction from the Sun, as are any near Earth.

Note that the projected location of STEREO Behind is also plotted. However, that spacecraft is not currently operational. Follow this link for more information.
